PR Week has published its annual salary survey. I was most interested in the question slipped in about the professional qualifications held by the respondents.
10% say they have a PR degree; 9% a postgraduate PR or communications degree; 13% the IPR Diploma, 12% a CAM qualification and another 12% an NCTJ award. Just 3% have an MBA.
This paints a fragmentary picture of professional qualifications in PR (though the IPR Diploma has done notably well since it only began in 1998). Disclaimer: I teach on many of the above courses – but have none of these qualifications myself.
